Jewelry Care Guide

Love your pieces well and they will love you right back.
Metals
What metals do you use?

We only use precious metals with intrinsic value for our jewelry:

  • Gold-filled: A layer of gold that contributes to at least 5% of the total weight of the piece.
  • Solid gold: Built for everyday durability.
  • Gold plated -Sterling silver or brass based. Our plating is 3x thicker compared to industry standard.
  • Sterling silver: Crafted from 92.5% pure silver and blended with 7.5% copper to enhance strength and durability.
What materials do you avoid?

We only use the above precious metals and avoid the following commonly used metals in jewelry:

  • Gold-Plated over alloy – A thin gold-layer electroplated over a cheaper base metal, used in “fake” or “costume jewelry”
  • Silver-Plated over alloy – A thin silver-layer electroplated over a cheaper base metal, used in “fake” or “costume jewelry”
  • Nickel – Used as a base metal or as a layer to brighten up plating on top. Unfortunately, Nickel is known to cause skin reactions in a significant portion of the population.
So… there’s no nickel?

NO NICKEL. We do not use any nickel in any of our jewelry. All our pieces are safe to wear for sensitive skin.

Will my jewelry tarnish?
  • Natural, precious metals can tarnish over time. Our materials are high-quality and we do everything possible to ensure the longevity of our jewelry. If your pieces tarnish within short period of time of wearing, please reach out to us, we'll fix it for you!
Jewelry Care
How to care for non-solid gold pieces?

Gently rub your gold-plated or gold filled jewelry with a soft jewelry cloth to restore its shine. After every use, clean your jewelry with a cotton ball or a very soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt. Plated pieces can be prone to oxidation, so we recommend removing before you swim, shower, or apply lotion, makeup, or perfume. To minimize scratches, store your piece in your Little Sky Stone pouch or in a separate compartment in your jewelry box.

How to care for sterling silver pieces?

Avoid exposing your sterling silver piece to chlorinated water and to cleaning products that contain bleach. Use a soft cloth to clean your silver piece. To minimize scratches and nicks, store it in your Little Sky Stone pouch or in a separate compartment in your jewelry box.

Gemstones
Our gemstones

Our natural and lab grown gemstones are responsibly sourced and carefully selected for their exceptional beauty, distinctive colors, and lasting quality.

Care for gemstones

Gemstones have varying degrees of hardness and need to be cared for properly.

Many colored gemstones stones are susceptible to discoloration and fading when excessively exposed to natural elements such as sun, salt water, perspiration, and chemical irritants like chlorine, cosmetics, and lotions.

Store your jewelry in a safe, dry place when you're not wearing it to protect it from the elements of daily exposure.

Care for special gemstones - opals

Opals are very porous, and any contact with water may temporarily cause the stone to change colors. Avoid other liquids like perfumes, soaps, cleaning products, lotion, cosmetics, and excessive sweat.

Avoid extreme changes in temperature, as this can cause opals to fracture. Remove while doing any kind of manual labor to avoid chipping.

Care for special gemstones - pearls

Pearls can be sensitive to environmental factors, so treat them with love. Maintain the brilliance and luster of pearls by wearing them often to prevent drying.

When not being worn, store pearls in a safe place. Avoid storing pearls in ultra dry environments as this can be damaging.
